shrpshtrjoe, you lucky dog! Watch out, they will try to get you to sign up for a Cabela's Visa. I'm hooked and now on their Black list!!! If you don't know already, being on the Black list means you spend too much money. I've been amazed how many cashiers comment, oooow, your a Cabela's Black Member. They gave me a $100 credit when I signed up for my card. Not sure they still do that.

Oh, we would take our kids and the neighbors kids there to see the animals and pretend we were on "Safari"! They always loved it.

Enjoy, it will be packed!!!!

They put one in here a couple years ago, it's great. If you avoid the weekends you can find powders and other stuff that goes fast otherwise. I go there just to chill sometimes, walking around like a tourist. Lots of people takin pictures of the stuffed animals and they have some nice McKenzie river boats on display that show the historic design changes over the years. That new place is gonna get some traffic.

You haven't known crowds until you see that place the Wednesday before Christmas, they usually do a deal for law enforcement and it gets insane. I've seen people with $15-20k in rifles in a single shopping cart. Crazy!

Congrats though, its cool to have one that close.

They opened one down in Greenville SC, in April and sent me a members only pass for a pre-opening event. So's I am thinking hey that will be great pre-opening not too many people I'll be able to stumble around easily, WRONG, more people than I've seen in the last five years.

Now before this excursion the only Cabela's I had ever been to was in Dundee Mi, and I expected this one to be the same, but it was very small about 1/3 the size, but still a great place to go.

They are opening a new on just south of Charlotte next spring and that's a lot closer for me. I just hope all this growth does not affect the quality we have all come to expect, only place I shop for anything other than food, and farm equipment.

Just an observation... I was happy when they opened a Gander Mt. near by but now I have little interest in going there. Prices seem awfully high, especially on guns. In fact all guns are MSRP and they say they won't negotiate on the prices.

I hope a Cabela's comes to your neck of the woods. I still go there all the time. Of course I have a Black Card and need to spend all my free points.

I have been to the Cabela's in Hamburg, PA a few times in the past few years. Prices are high unless things are on sale. Used gun prices are much too high. New gun prices are M.S.R.P. Customer service is poor on their best day. I focus on a few local gun shops that treat customers well and are willing to negotiate prices. Cabela's has not hurt the local mom and pop gun shops around here. All the best...

Did they call it an Outpost? I drove past 3 Cabela's when I went to San Antonio last weekend. The one in Waco was called a Cabela's Outpost and looked smaller in size.

I hit up our Cabelas for the 2nd time in 2 weeks today, they had .22lr both times! Hopefully its a sign of the rush easing a bit.

One nice thing if a store is nearby is to order online and have items "shipped to store" for free. Would probably help with the smaller stores that have limited selections.
